What is the purpose of a woman's
period? Once a month, just after a woman releases the egg (at ovulation) from her ovary, the lining of the womb (uterus) is at its peak to allow the embedding of a fertilized egg. If pregnancy does not occur, the lining of the womb starts to deteriorate as the hormones that sustain it in peak condition alter. After
a few days, the lining breaks down completely, sloughs off the wall
of the uterus, and is washed away by the blood released from the
arteries that supplied it. Contractions of the uterus also help remove the debris. After 3 to 5 days, the bleeding stops, and a new lining start to develop ready for the next month's ovulation. On the picture (right), an egg has left the ovary after ovulation and is on its way to the uterus (through Fallopian Tube). The parts of the body involved in the menstrual cycle includes brain, pituitary gland, uterus and cervix, ovaries , fallopian tubes and vagina. Body chemicals called hormones fall and rise during the month and make menstrual cycle happen. The ovaries make two important female hormones, estrogen and progesterone. Other hormones involved in the menstrual cycle include follicle -stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), made by pituitary gland. Women can have various kinds of problems with their periods including pain , heavy bleeding, prolong bleeding and skipped period. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Many
women occasionally have heavy menstrual periods during their
menstrual cycle. More often heavy periods occur two to three years
before menopause and during the first two-three years after onset of
menstruation. -
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Amenorrhea can be
two types: primary and secondary. Primary amenorrhea is when
period has not started by the age of 16 and secondary amenorrhea
is when you have had at least one menstrual period and than your
period stopped. Most cases of amenorrhea (primary and secondary) require medical investigation, unless it is something physiological like breast feeding, pregnancy or cases related to oral contraception. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Painful
Irregular Periods Painful irregular periods is what women often complain about. It is more relevant to young women but can happen at any age. In medical terms it is called dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea can be primary (when no internal pelvic abnormalities are found ) and secondary (when there is an organic cause for painful periods, e.g. endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, fibroids and the like).
Primary dysmenorrhea usually happens in young women (peak
incidence 14-25, but could be variations). Natural remedies for this problem include: yoga, massage, relaxations, self-affirmations, self-hypnosis, acupressure, acupuncture and herbal treatment. Vitamin B (complex) is also helpful in many cases. Secondary dysmenorrehea needs more complex treatment depending on the cause. Before you start treating yourself for this problem you should go to your doctor and have some tests done to find out the cause of secondary dysmenorrehea. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Period like pain in the middle of menstrual cycle (ovulation pain).
Some women have
period like pain in the middle of each cycle. Why does it
happen? What can you do to help? If you are not trying to fall pregnant, you can start on the contraceptive pill. You also can take medication like Ibuprofen or Panadol. Natural remedies that can help include acupressure, acupuncture, self-hypnosis and yoga. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Have your Periods
the Easy Way. Feeling frustrated and fed up with your periods? Having these painful cramps , getting depressed and on the edge, losing too much blood every single month, is this just driving you nuts? And even more: bloating, tender breast, memory loss and inattentiveness, fatigue that puts you in bed for at least a few days, debilitating pains, skin breakouts.......Do these sound all too familiar? What makes things even worse
is your doctor telling you that all these things
are "normal" and they are simply a part of what it is to
be a woman and may disappear after you have a baby. But
at the same time you know that many women continue to
suffer the same problem even after having children. So,
what should you do? Just accept things by saying " this
is your cross to bear"? Do you agree with this? I would
personally recommend to you do not accept this way
of thinking and try to find a way to have your periods
more easily. It is all explained in this Amazing e book. |
